To Dave:
Noyer is the French word for walnut.
It’s also a verb: to drown.
We have a saying in French: « noyé dans un verre d’eau » which basically means « drowned in a cup of water », in other words « to be as helpless as a babe ».
Since « verre » (glass) and « vert » (green) are pronounced the same way, I played on both meanings. Vert d’eau is a color, sort of light green.
Hope this won’t discourage you from learning our beautiful language.
